AUTOMOTIVE RUBBER SHEET AND ROLLS
AUTOMOTIVE CERTIFIED RUBBER SHEET
For the last 25+ years, the Automotive Industry has been using rubber sheet in the form of Santoprene™ TPV. It is a light-weight, low cost alternative and produces a higher performing system. In order to comply with Auto Manufacturers, die-cut automotive rubber or profile extruded product must be certified. Sherwood Industries Inc. is an automotive manufacturer of Santoprene™ grades that comply with General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler LLC. To look further, check our Automotive Spec sheets.
WHY DOES SANTOPRENE™ RUBBER WORK IN THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY?
In the early beginnings of Santoprene™, many customers had questioned whether to invest in machinery to process Santoprene™ as automotive rubber sheet. But, as soon as rubber companies found that Santoprene™ was produced at a lower cost than thermoset rubber, Santoprene™ manufacturers knew they would be able to find new customers in different industries due to the capabilities Santoprene™. Santoprene™ reduced weight up to 30% compared to its counterpart, EPDM rubbers, and this is extremely important when working with Tier 1 manufacturers that have weight guidelines on each part. Because we have been extruding Santoprene™ since 1994, we have seen the automotive industry adopt many applications and grow tremendously to various parts within. At this point, we see this industry continuing to grow because Santoprene™ brings many advantages to the industry with little disadvantages.

SHERWOOD’S CAPABILITIES
Sherwood Industries Inc. manufactures extruded products made with SantopreneTM Thermoplastic Vulcanizate (TPV) from Celanese. A TPV is also often referred to as a Thermoplastic Rubber (TPR), behaves as rubber but processes like a thermoplastic. This material combines good physical properties and chemical resistance. Our general purpose extruded sheet and profiles products can be used in a wide range of applications for automobiles. Many of the automotive manufacturers’ specifications can be found below. Santoprene™ TPV general purpose grades are very common within the Automotive Industry and we are experts in extruding. If you can’t find what you are looking for, please contact us!
We have the capability to wind your order onto 3″ or 6″ PVC cores and cut to the width you would need for your part. Our process is extremely thorough and defined. Our rubber rolls can weigh as much or as little as you’d like. We also offer the ability to wind a specific number of linear feet onto each core so your machinery can operate properly. Each order can be customized with a pattern on one or both sides of the rubber. We offer this for aesthetics and can accommodate your request. With that being said, we have the ability to provide you with whatever width you would like that is up to 51″. Don’t forget, we offer profile designs that are also available to be cut to size and packaged in cardboard boxes and/or shipped on a traditional skid/pallet.
BENEFITS OF AUTOMOTIVE CERTIFIED SANTOPRENE™
Of the many benefits of Automotive Certified Rubber, Santoprene™ possesses some of the best flex-fatigue resistance in the TPE family. It also has a very low compression set, which means Santoprene™ withstands pressure well. With that being said, when your part is under pressure, it will resist permanent deformation. In the eyes of the Automotive Industry, Santoprene™ still remains a constant and will continue its success in the industry.
